I have been a musician for almost all of my life, and I can tell when someone is playing from the heart. Ever since my heart attack, everyone I’ve come into contact with at the hospital — the emergency services staff, doctors, nurses, cath lab staff and now the cardiopulmonary team — have all performed their duties with more passion and heart than any musician I’ve ever experienced.
Everyday aches and pains are normal for many people as they age. But for 34-year-old Dustin Masek of Columbus, age was not the reason for his discomfort. Masek’s reccurring back pain turned into something much more intense than age-related problems.
